Insights from happenstance

I was teaching yoga at the Pitt Meadows Farmer's Market on August 5th when I noticed a man who was walking past my booth reading my display sign.
"Do you practice yoga?" I asked.
"Every day," he replied with a smile.

That is how I met Rakesh Raj. A former actor turned entrepreneur who works with activists in the agro-food industry in India to connect small scale growers with markets. We struck up a conversation and Raj agreed to meet me for coffee and a chat. He was eager to share his views on yoga, pranayama and meditation, and it was clear he spoke from a place of knowing as well as a desire to help people.
His philosophy? To give with an open heart is to live in a state of bliss.
We met up today at the place where we had first crossed paths, Spirit Square in Pitt Meadows. We sat together and over coffee talked about the simplicity and power of pranayama, the importance of practicing mindfulness, and the way that gratitude is a superpower that every human being can use to transform their experience of life.
