Reflections from Baja, and my next Day Retreat

For those who don't know, I recently returned from a beautiful 1 week vacation to Baja California Sur in Mexico. This place has held a special magic for me and my family who have been visiting for the past ten years. Each time I go, it's a chance to slow down. To reflect on the past year and dream about what I want to achieve in the year to come. And of course, a chance to do sunrise yoga on the rooftop, my favourite tradition.



It gave me the time I needed to realize I had been holding back from taking the next step I needed to, in order for my dream of sharing my wellness programming with the world. I love teaching yoga, in all its forms. But my vision is built on integrating the wisdom of yoga with neuroscience research and techniques that go beyond yoga for nervous system regulation, in order to prevent occupational stress injury among first responders and those who serve their communities.


I had designed the program.

Built the web page.

Drafted up contract templates.

Incorporated my business.

Posted about it.


...and nothing happened.


I knew why, I was just avoiding it. Fearful of the belief I wasn't ready, I was holding back from trying to actually connect with clients. On paper there was nothing left to do. But only once I slowed down and reflected did I really let it sink in.


It was time to begin reaching out to the right people.


I could have started weeks ago but I was afraid. Now I couldn't ignore it anymore, and decided it was time.


And you know what?


My very first outreach email landed me a meeting.


Each small step I am taking is giving me proof that I can do this. I am building capacity to face these new experiences. That is growth.

Together we will practice yoga, meditate, and learn applied techniques for nervous system regulation. Better yet, you'll learn to discern your own body's state and needs through the lens of Polyvagal theory, so that you can practice the techniques your body actually needs in a given moment.
